It looks like we will be having a test game (starting Wednesday, 31st, 8:01). Demand updates may be enabled for this game just to move things along.

Mid-game Updates

Blue coloring on countries in the power charts indicates the eventual winners of the game.

Two weeks after start, August 20, 1991

(source)

Europe is in flames. It seems like everybody wants to get into the act now. Spain is invading Portugal. France is picking on Gaul. England is trying to make a presence in Holland. Austria and Carthage are carving up Italy while Poland expands into Prussia.

In Eastern Europe, Archangle is still trying to take out Siberia. Novogorad and Finland are sitting on their earlier spoils of war. And Ukraine is patroling its own boarders.

The North African front is quite. Algeria has not yet been able to take out a severly financially straped Morroco. Carthage has gone North rather than east or west. Egypt, Syria, and Turkey have all kept to them selves for the most part.

The big mover was Bulgaria. After rounding up Greece, the Bulger army and air corps did a fine number on Sevestopol. This included the majority of what was once Romania. Not even noticing that boarders were being crossed, Bulgaria made a severe dent in Armenia's hope of surviving till the end of the game.

It took a while but all the available land was finally claimed with reports of ships and military exploring the shores of Iceland.

After looking at all of the previous events, the Swiss Minister of Crystal Balls, Tarot Cards, and Palm Readings predicted that no further countries would be ousted from the game before next weeks post. The Minister has had his crayons and water colors taken away and television rights severly curtailed.

As can be seen from the power chart, there is not much left of Europe. Bulgaria has eaten several countries alive. The latest fatalities include Turkey and Ukraine. Poland has been set upon by a pack of wolves lead by Austria and followed up by Novogorad and Finland.

Fresh from its Portugal conquest, Spain was slapped in the face by Carthage and then by France. Remnants of the once proud Spanish army have been quoted as saying "Wha Happen!!".

After repulsing several attacks from England and France, Holland was finally retired when Austria and Finland commited troops. I don't even remember what the hell happened to Prussia. Or when it happened.

It seems like everybody has toys now. Almost all the countries holding "Above Swiss Standard" status (otherwise known as A.S.S. countries), posses jets or at least have the tech to make them. Several countries are also reporting outbreaks of plague and the certain death that follows.

About the only real interesting thing happening now (aside from all of the countries around Bulgaria hoping they don't draw the short straw) is a lot of tounges being stuck out across the Mediterainian between France and Carthage. This lack of "Let's go out and kill something" action will probably result in the game being declared "DONE" and Bulgaria given the European Cup

How about a list of countries whose only spot is going to be in an unwritten history book.

Armenia, Gaul, Greece, Italy, Holland, Mauritania, Morroco, Norway, Portugal, Prussia, Romania, Russia, Siberia, St_Petersburg, & Sweden

And of course the countries holding "Below Swiss Stanard" status, otherwise know as B.S. countries can probably look forward to being on this list.

This is the Swiss Minister of "My Sinda job is not finished yet so I will write to R.G.E." signing off till next week.

Game Summary

(source)

The European Empire game has come to a finish. Looking at the power chart included below shows why. With a Deity power showing the points, Bulgaria was by far and away the clear winner. Bulgaria is in real life (do Empire players have a real life?) Atlantis. Bulgaria was the leader in tech, number of sectors, number of planes, number of civs, amount of money, and amount of resources. Add to that the fact that Bulgaria had a strong alliance with Austria and Carthage...

Power charts and tech reports from the Deity's perspective are included down
below. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who
signed up to play. It seems that the way start areas were handled in this
game was accepted rather well. We got rid of the concept of starting
islands while still keeping people within a semblance of boarders for the
first update. Any more input on this concept from the players to me
would be welcomed.

Any other ideas for a game played on a map? United States or N. America?
How about the S. Pacific or the Coral Sea area?

Awards

Let's get to the awards ceremony.

First, the Shadow Boxing Award goes to Carthage and France. In the last week of the game, these two countries sure talked one hell of a fight.

The Hermit award goes to Archangle. After taking out Siberia, Archangle sealed its boarders to the rest of the world. He interfered with no one and vice versa. In the mean time, he managed to come in second place with tech and money.

France gets the Explorer's Trophy for finding Iceland.

Egypt gets the Good Sportsmanship award. After changing his country name to something other than a geographical name, he eventually reversed and changed back just to keep within the spirit of the game.

And of course Bulgaria gets the Winners Plaque for outright winning the game. In the later stages of the game, Bulgaria was taking out 60-70 sector countries within one update.
